My World Still Burns is a free simulation video game wherein you can enjoy a fanmade sequel featuring a popular pairing. Developed by cloverfirefly, this fangame is a 2D indie visual novel based on the Japanese animated film, Promare.

Just like Use Your Outside Voice, Richie Tozier!, My World Still Burns features some of the cast of the movie—although, in here, you get to see a possible continuation of the main story rather than a different ending. That being said, however, you should expect major spoilers for the movie so it’s recommended to play only after watching it.

Promare is a 2019 Japanese animated film that revolves around a rookie firefighter meeting a wanted terrorist leader advocating the freedom of flame-wielding mutants. These mutants are called the Burnish and they had inexplicably gained these powers after a cataclysmic event 30 years prior. Currently, people know them as criminals but the two characters soon uncover a terrible conspiracy about the oppression of the Burnish.

My World Still Burns takes place two years after the events of the movie and features two characters in a non-canon LGBT romantic relationship. The two are currently dating and their anniversary is coming soon so this is a short but sweet story of them planning their surprises for each other. Unlike most VNs, there’s no gameplay at all here so you don’t have to worry about dialogue options.

However, this also means that this is a linear story and has no other ending. That’s not too bad but the CGs you unlock are only sketches of what their final forms should look like. You’ll then have to check back on the developer and see if they’ve updated the game properly. The story is complete, though, and no additions are expected for it.

Overall, My World Still Burns is a great visual fangame for any fans of Promare—most especially those who would like to see romance blossom between the two aforementioned characters. The story is easy to follow and complete since it’s straightforward and requires no dialogue options at all. However, take note that the graphics is incomplete for this game as the CGs are missing and you only get sketch placeholders.
